Charity Comedy Night Raises £3,000 for Age UK Solihull

A night filled with laughter and generosity unfolded at a charity comedy event in support of Age UK Solihull, raising an impressive £3,000.

The comedic talents of up-and-coming performers Simon Wozniak, Vinnie Townhill, Hannah Sylvester, and The Boys From The All Night Chemist lit up the stage at Shirley British Legion. The event, organized by Tim “Woody” Woodfield and Michelle Courtney, alongside Age UK Solihull Trustee Nicky Robinson, aimed to bolster funds for the charity’s vital services catering to older individuals in the borough.

Through ticket sales, donations, and a lively raffle, coupled with match funding from storage supplier Spartan Direct, the event amassed a total profit of £3,385.

The funds raised will enable Age UK Solihull to continue providing essential services, including befriending and social clubs to combat loneliness and isolation among older adults, digital skills training to enhance technological literacy, and an Information and Advice line staffed by trained advisors offering support on various issues affecting older individuals and their families.

Rebecca Jacob, Age UK Solihull’s digital marketing and fundraising manager, expressed gratitude for the event’s success, highlighting the invaluable contributions of Nicky, Tim, Michelle, and the generous attendees. The funds raised will significantly impact the charity’s ability to support thousands of older and vulnerable residents in Solihull each year.
