Families across the West Midlands are being offered a budget-friendly way to get out and explore this summer, with a new travel deal from National Express West Midlands.
The region’s largest bus operator has launched a limited-edition Family Summer Special ticket, offering unlimited bus travel for just £75 throughout the school holidays.
The ticket covers travel for up to two adults and four children on all National Express West Midlands buses – and any other bus services within the nBus zone – from 21 July to 31 August 2025.
With just 1,000 tickets available, the operator estimates families could save up to £200 on travel during the summer break, leaving more money for activities and treats.
The initiative follows a survey of nearly 300 bus users, which found that over 70% were parents, and more than half said financial pressures might limit their ability to enjoy activities with their children this summer.
Antony Goozee, Managing Director of National Express West Midlands, said the ticket was about making the summer easier – and cheaper – for families.
“We recognise that it can be challenging – and expensive – for parents to keep the kids entertained during the school summer holidays,” he said.
“That’s why we’re making it easier and more affordable for families to get out and about to enjoy the many fantastic local events and attractions across the West Midlands.
“Our £75 Family Summer Special bus ticket is great value and means up to two adults and four children can enjoy unlimited travel for the entire school summer holiday, saving them around £200 to put away for a rainy day – or to go towards making even more special memories together this summer.”
The survey also found that 94% of parents prioritised value for money when planning days out, with many citing convenience, low cost, and avoiding the stress of driving or parking as key reasons for taking the bus.
